The UK's advertising governing body, the Advertising Standards Authority, has today ruled that Fabulous Bingo's latest TV advertisement is in breach the broadcasting rules relating to gambling despite the fact that the ad had been approved by Clearcast before airing. Kokyee Ng (DLA Piper, London) considers the implications.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) hosted a refresher training session on Gambling Advertising on 13 June 2012.  The session did not provide any updates, as such, as to how the ASA were coping with regulating the online environment, but did act as a reminder to the industry that the ASA views this subject very seriously. Stephen Ketteley and Kokyee Ng (DLA Piper, London) summarise the current position.
