The Government finally confirmed that the additional DTT frequencies will be allocated through a bid, instead of a beauty contest.
According to recent press releases, it seems that the new Italian Ministry of Economic Development is going to "freeze" the so called beauty contest procedure aimed at granting new tv digital frequencies to broadcasting operators on a free basis.

While the CNID (Comitato Nazionale Italia Digitale - the committee responsible to co-ordinate the switchover process) approved a new calendar for analog transmissions switch-off, the Ministry for Economic Development should soon finalize the bid regulations for the handing over of additional DTT frequencies, the so-called "digital dividend beauty contest".
